One for my mother, and one for myself. The first is a Canon Powershot SD1100 IS, which is an image stabilized ultra compact 8MP camera. There’s a review of it here. It’s a nice little camera, and I think my Mom will appreciate it. I just have to teach her how to use it.
For myself, I finally got rid of my outdated Sony Cyber-shot DSC-P72. (review) It was a good camera for its time, but it was over 5 years old, so it was definitely time to move on. To replace it, I bought a Canon PowerShot A720 IS (review), which is also an image stabilized model and 8MP. It’s larger than the PowerShot SD1100 but it packs a lot of nice features in, and it also uses AA Ni-MH rechargeable batteries, which I have plenty of

I was fortunate and able to load CHDK onto my A720 and make a ton of extra features available to me for use, including the ability to shoot in RAW and also a nice little battery indicator. I can’t wait to start shooting with this.
