shopping spree!

My last paycheck came out to about $9700 after taxes, because the city owed me a ton of money from a retroactive contract. So with that money, I’m going to buy a few small items. Nothing extravagant. I bought a Cobb Accessport version 2, to retune my car. And a Kartboy short throw shifter and Momo shifter knob. All of these things come out to about… $750 at most… and then I’m going to sock away the rest in my savings account. :)

Happy Independence Day!

I call it Independence Day because that’s what it is and it seems that by calling it “The Fourth of July” we are diminishing its significance. No other holiday is referred to by its date, so I don’t think this one should be either. Our country was founded on this day, and on this day, we celebrate that. REMEMBER!

Now, go out, drink booze, go to BBQs, and shoot off some fireworks!

I bought 2 new digital cameras

One for my mother, and one for myself. The first is a Canon Powershot SD1100 IS, which is an image stabilized ultra compact 8MP camera. There’s a review of it here. It’s a nice little camera, and I think my Mom will appreciate it. I just have to teach her how to use it.

For myself, I finally got rid of my outdated Sony Cyber-shot DSC-P72. (review) It was a good camera for its time, but it was over 5 years old, so it was definitely time to move on. To replace it, I bought a Canon PowerShot A720 IS (review), which is also an image stabilized model and 8MP. It’s larger than the PowerShot SD1100 but it packs a lot of nice features in, and it also uses AA Ni-MH rechargeable batteries, which I have plenty of
.

I was fortunate and able to load CHDK onto my A720 and make a ton of extra features available to me for use, including the ability to shoot in RAW and also a nice little battery indicator. I can’t wait to start shooting with this.

I am an uncle again!

My sister gave birth to my second nephew yesterday. Born Friday, June 13, 5PM PST. Woohoo!

Goodbye, Grandma.

On May 31, 2008, at the age of 87, my grandmother passed away at Robert Wood Hospital in NJ. Rest in peace, grandma.

holy crap i hate construction dump trucks

My car got dinged up with about a half dozen windshield dings because some f-ing truck in front of me was spraying rocks and sand all over the place. No, I was not following too closely. I was quite a ways back, but the stuff was coming from the TOP of the truck and hitting my windshield. They should be held liable for this type of stuff… >=[

Facebook - My Heroes Ability

So lately, I’ve been hooked on this app/game on Facebook called My Heroes Ability, or MHA. It’s a big online RPG type of game, except there are no graphics and it’s entirely web based. You level up from gaining experience and by either using your abilities or by knocking people out. Very addictive…

so my precinct made the news again

I started running

Well, about 1-2 weeks ago, I went to the track and ran. I did poorly as far as distance goes, but I did 1 mile in 7 minutes flat, which isn’t so bad. Today, I ran again at a slower pace and kept running for about 15 minutes… probably did somewhere around 1.5-2 miles. I might run again tomorrow (Wednesday) but I’m not sure yet. I’ll see how my body feels when I wake up. I really need to get in shape.
